Newly opened in September 2015, DC Comics Super Heroes Cafe is celebrating its first Christmas at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore with its Festive Season 3-course Menu. Licensed by Warner Bros. Consumer Products on behalf of DC Entertainment, the cafe boasts a casual dining area, sandwich and salad counter, patisserie and ice-cream station, complete with a retail section featuring the DC Comics Super Heroes merchandise.
The Festive Season 3-course Menu puts together some of the cafe’s favorite American cuisine, consisting of two choices of appetizers, two choices of mains, a festive-themed dessert, and a special gift to bring home. Available on pre-Christmas weekend (December 19 & 20), Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (December 24 & 25), as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (December 31 & January 1).
Festive Season 3-course Menu
Wonder Woman’s Warm Earth-Mother Mocha, S$8.50
While waiting for my main course to come, I was tempted into trying their cafe mocha with a very fanciful name. Unfortunately they used too much chocolate syrup… it was so sweet I couldn’t finish the drink.
We started with Arkham’s City X’mas Minestrone Soup. There are little batman shapes in the vegetable soup which you can look out for 🙂 I’m a fan of minestrone soup and this one doesn’t disappoint. Instead I was rather surprised the soup looks oilier than most of what I had and wondered why was it so. I was famished when I arrived for the food tasting and totally forgot to take a picture of it!
OT: Someone was overhead saying “I’m having lunch with Superman now.” and she wasn’t lying ;P
Star of Wonder (Woman) Salad
The Star of Wonder (Woman) Salad with pomegranate arils, sliced almonds, fried shallots, dried cranberries in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and red wine vinegar all thrown together, has a refreshing fusion taste. The toasted bread was kind of bland and a little too big to bite into. It would be nice to have them in little stars instead so that it’s also easy for little children to tuck into.
Batman’s Dark Knight Burger (Deluxe Edition)
My chosen main was the Batman’s Dark Knight Burger (Deluxe Edition). Succulent wagyu beef patty, foie gras, avocado and chili jam on charcoal bun — the burger was stacked so tall we don’t know where to start cutting so that it won’t tumble. Anyway as a fries-first person I decided to attack the pipping hot fries first ^^ I swear it can fight with Singaporeans’ favorite fries!
The wagyu was tender and tasty, but the addition of foie gras to the burger was unnecessary as avocado is already buttery and rich to the taste. All the fats combined can be an overkill.
Aquaman “The Sea King of Atlantis” Lobster Tail
For a fresh taste of seafood, you can give the Aquaman “The Sea King of Atlantis” Lobster Tail a try. Served with brussels sprout, asparagus, cherry tomato and lemon butter, served with lobster bisque sauce with chervil.
Didn’t get to try the Superman Winter Solstice-tude dessert as I had to leave early 😦
The Christmas gifts and the mistaken-for-a-comic-book menu
Guess what are they? Salt and pepper shakers!
Smallville Prophecy, S$9.90
Someone ordered this peanut-butter drink and sent all of us doubting his choice, haha! Apparently those who took sips to taste agreed that it was really really good! The drink also came in a cute blue glass with Clark Kent’s red cape.
For those celebrating Christmas with DC Comics Super Heroes Cafe, they will be given a Christmas memento and a hero cape with every order of the Festive Season 3-course Menu. For more information, go to http://www.facebook.com/DCSHCafe. To place a reservation, please call +65 6688 7610.
